Good morning!! I woke up and was immediately called to Social Justice Warrior mode. I’m currently disappointed at the bigotry on my friends list. But more on that later. I slept in until 7 AM YAY!
Yesterday was a hard day fot me.. Emotionally. I was between extreme upset and lethargic. Overthinking myself and interactions and if I gave enough love and consideration to the people we love… We did the river walk thing on both sides of Peoria and walked around Bass Pro. We also visited the sculpture walk and talked about the Holocaust memorial. Then we worked on workbooks and followed up with informational videos on the Holocaust. Did you know that the US is so antisemitic they only allowed 5k refugees from a literal world war on their persecution to find shelter? That’s a big WTF in my book. Though it shows the xenophobia we still experience.
Anyway! from Peoria we drove all the way to Moline and stopped at a playground. Right as my soup was warm, I realized that the human who’d been chilling in the shade up ahead, had two rats running around the grass playing. I got super excited, but not as excited as Galixy who needed to go investigate further.
This dude named Aaron takes his rats out on the daily and is trying to train them to follow him around! The rats are Stormy and Snowflake and so soft and kind. Galixy was so stoked to hang out with the trio and eventually even Atreyu felt enticed to go check out what they were all about. Galixy is definitely a little more forward about holding things but Atreyu put on a brave face and ended up petting them too!
Aaron is such a handsome soul! He’s genuinely stoked when people come to hang out with his rats. He’s lived in Moline all his life and considers it a boring spot, but told us about a spot to find frogs at the prospect park down the road. He really liked Bugus and hopes to move to Iceland with a group of friends some day. I hope it’s not just because it’s sposed to be safer there, but also all the hot springs and beautiful spots…. though iceland is definitely not for me as it’s too cold, I completely understand it’s lure. I did repeat too often that I’m hoping to make everywherre a safer spot, which is a tall order for a small insignificant human like me, but gotta reach for the stars! I love Aaron so much already.
Trying tto start up the bus (it’s been having some issues lately) it finally hit me that it must be the glow plugs starting to wear out. It made me want to drive further than ust Davenport but I considered the time of day and all the things I felt needed to get done so we just went with the spot here.
We do have a lovely visit ahead of us. Jason and Kacy were introduced to me by Peaches like four years ago? Their daughter Lilly is just a little younger than Atreyu which is making Atreyu very happy to be visiting some kids closer to his age than we usually see. Our familie’s kids are all older and most of my friends have kids that are about Galixy’s age. I’m very grateful for all the friends, but it is nice for Atreyu to know some peers. Kacy is an amazing momma who’s blunt and kind and Jason is mechanically inclined and super honest. All in all they’re cool humans I’m super excited to see!
So this morning, Galixy had me kill some bedbugs in her bed, which makes my skin crawl. But I’ve been warning people that our visits are short in an attempt to contain our infestation we’re not going into peoples houses either. I can’t wait to kills all of these bugs. Gonna ozonate at the Richardsons to ease my mind.
Ok, Social Justice Warrior call. There are some amazing people in this world that don’t fit into societally constructed binaries. I know quite a few and have one in my family. I share meme’s on my personal facebook to not only support this faction of humans but to maybe educate others that have no concept of what’s going on. My main deal is that we respect each other and even other humans we don’t necessarily get along with instead of just invalidating a whole perception of self. I posted a meme that said I would respect and support humans even if what they tell me about themselves changes (because I don’t know you better than you know you) and I had a bigot reveal themselves on it. Actually it started yesterday with another shared thing where it states that if you mess up with gender pronouns, thank for patience instead of apologizing and forcing the affected to tell you it’s ok, cause it might be ok in that moment, but on a whole it’s a full invalidation and this bigot commented “ick” At first I kinda let it slide, but towards the evening I replied with “is ick a new acronym or are we having trouble respecting other’s identity” and his reply was that there are 2 genders and a lot of mental illness according to science. Obviously this fool has read the last scientific article in the 1950’s or just feeds off divisive media. I posted some links that I doubt will be read. It really hurts that there’s such ignorance on my feed, but I guess he did name his band “Gypsy Wagyn Band” and if you didn’t know “Gypsy” is a slur to romani for the persecution they face. My personal opinion about it doesn’t matter, but it’s been adopted so hard to mean “free spirit” that a lot of people disassociate when they utilize it.
Heads up, they have a song in the award winning “Nomadland” and have received awards for their music. I have met them personally and the lead singer’s vibe is very loving and free spirited. I thought so was her partner in music and life, but now I’m wondering ifthey don’t share their belief in outdated and false science. By every possible angle, it hurts that such stupidity can come out of such “freedom loving” humans. Freedom, but only if it applies to them and their self expression. All else is a mental illness. Grrrr. I’m about to change my paint job to the transgender flag cause BIGOTS SUCK DONKEY DICK. *cough* I mean, is it so hard to educate yourself? I could just block bigots as they reveal themselves but that means they just become another humans problem and I’d rather they be my problem than someone whose identity they invalidate with each ignorant breath of nonsense.
I can’t expand any further at this moment but I’d be more than willing to throw y’all some links and articles and my own blog post about supporting humans. I’m just blown away right now and have to pee and deal with my own mechanical problems and head to get to our friends and head to get out of these grossnesses. I killed like 4 more bugs since I started writing. And Galixy drew a rat in honor of Aaron yesterday, who, I forgot to mention is also an amazing artist….
