It’s morning #6 of my being a non-smoker. Can you tell a difference? It’s so silly because I was always told that lung function takes a hit, but I think the most annoying thing, to me anyway, is the energy tobacco sucked from my life. Maybe that’s something specific to me? I know smokers who still get a lot done, whom I’ve asked how they get the energy for it all. Now I must find an alternative to mom’s mental break time from the kiddos as my patience is pretty thin. Not that I feel like I’d had a WHOLE lot of that while smoking either….
Anyway! Good day to y’all! The sun is shining. The kiddos are snoozing. The water for coffee is trying to boil. It’s 36 degrees out and I feel like we’re back in winter, but with spring vibe. I guess technically we are back in winter being so far up north. It makes me want to head back south. I wanna wake up feeling warm and wear whatever I want, not winter gear, hmpf.
Yesterday we went to the Zoo!. After pulling through downtown Cincinnatti and finding a spot at the zoo, it hit me that maybe we’d have to reserve spots online and/or pay online. I don’t have that capability right now and the kids were SO excited. Atreyu’s been waiting for this zoo birthday trip (sponsored by Crikett!!) So we got up on the escalator and to the ticket booth and they still had spots for us to get in that hour and pay cash. The kids and I were so relieved and happy!

That zoo is HUGE! Getting into the Africa section, I was wondering if it’s even possible to see all of it. There were some beautiful animals. We managed to get funneled into the cheetah run show right on time. The best maintained animals are the ones they show off. Can’t show off the poor arctic fox though, so it was running in circles and the penguins reminded of something from Happy Feet. There were quite a few animals I felt very sorry for and hope that the Zoo will expand on their environments next. It’s a really feeble hope as I’d prefer them to be out in the wild, but asking a zoo to prepare them in such ways seems unreachable. I did pay like 74$ for entry. Then there was a face painting airbrush booth right by the entry and Galixy wanted a unicorn on her face. They charge $16 for a small thing. I was like “naw.” I do believe we saw most everything. The kangaroo run was cute, though their signs say not to touch the roos if they approach you. We’d been to another zoo, I believe it was my birthday zoo trip in Knoxville tennessee a couple years back, where I did get to pet a roo and I want to re-report that their fur is marsupial, so if you’ve touched a chinchilla you’d have a good understanding of how soft these fluffers are. Would I have my own kangaroo pet? maybe, but I’d probably choose a horse… like a draft horse to pull Bugus.
Anyway! We were all super tired after our long zoo day and the dogs were very happy for us to get back. Couple random things to talk about: I went for a morning run yesterday and I’m pretty proud of myself for doing that, even if it’s not consistent, I’m at least being active. The kids did their workbooks in the evening instead of the morning and Galixy finished her Pre-k mini workbook and we’ll be moving on to her big Kindergarten book! Yay. Also, in the zoo-roo container was a super cute zoo-keeper who overheard me tell the kids the texture of fur and asked if we’ve been around roo’s much. He switched stations to the kiddie petting zoo in time for us to get around to there. We joked that he was following us around the park and we’d be sure to see him again at our next spot. We didn’t. But it was funny.
Galixy just peaked out of her bed to tell me that the zoo was amazing yesterday. I’m super happy that they had such a beautiful time. Thanks to Turtle and Soup (turtle soup haha) for suggesting we go to that one.
What will we do today? laundry! I really need to edit some youtube videos. I’ve redone an intro multiple times now because my subscribers on the channel keep getting more and I keep slacking. It does make me wonder if people are disappointed at my inactivity on that medium. It’s just so hard compared to something I’ve done most of my life (write!!) Maybe we’ll head to the next town over to avoid these big city traffics. Too many lanes and I get anxiety trying to decide which one I should be in to make the next turn plausible.
The kids are now awake and I must get this day going! May your day be beautiful!
