through Marianna

I’m feeling like I’m a bit aimless at the moment, which isn’t exactly a bad thing. It’s been kind of a taking one direction and then getting to a spot for the night just to make the decision to go back but another route leading further east. kind of a zigzag, maybe a little loop in there. But the whole of the journey is generally full of beauty and wonders to behold. I particularly love this burgeoining spring with super Florida warmth. This is basically summer.

We met up briefly with Oryan before he headed back up north. He had a horrible time camping with lots of downpour and no cell service for even a semblance of companionship. I feel a little guilty since if I had been up there suffering with him he might’ve deferred his trip north for the extent he had originally planned on. On the other hand, I’m not responsible for his life and my path took me the way it did. I will be happy to see him again whenever the time comes again.

So, as I said it’s been kind of a meandering path, much like the weather is weaving between stormy and sunny, but at the very least it’s warm.

The last couple days I felt really on my A game. I found a state park called Falling Waters, which, as you guessed, is a waterfall. We also got rained on, which is also a form of falling water. But that wasn’t until after the kids had their fill swimming in the little lake. The water was crisp but the kids were stoked and toiled for hours.

The next day we went to Marianna’s state park which has the only above ground caverns in Florida. So we took an hour long tour through the caves with Honeybee/ Joni as our tour guide. The kids had a blast and learned a lot. There were other kids and lots of little questions for the comedian of a guide. After the caves, the kids and I went to the playground in the State Park and hung out for a while.

I’m really procrastinating on my youtube, I am so fully aware of it and I just keep adding more material to the clusterf** that is my phone right now. I literally forced myself to sit down and write right now as the kiddos are playing on this epic playset on the western outskirts of tallahassee. I’ve also put off doing laundry because it seems so low on the priority compared to some other things we’re doing. All it is is carpets and bed stuff anyway. I’m putting up some winter carpeting. The floorboard being cool is less prooblematic in the summer.

I’ve also met some pretty cool people the past few days! I made friends with Phyre and Sparky whose presence was very much appreciated as some overly helpful dude tried to encrouch on my space with the opening line of “how do you keep from being taken advantage of?” sirens going off there. Flags popping up, like, please, sir, stop taking advantage of people? So Phyre and Sparky are two travelers heading towards Maine. they’re a cute couple with gorgeously open eyes and such kind hearts. Phyre even said that she wasn’t going to leave me alone with that dude hovering. The guy ended up breaking a piece on the couple’s car that Sparky was working on and booked it, causing us to have a quick trip to the parts store for a replacement. I could’ve chilled with them much longer but the weather report foretold a slim swimming window for the kids at the state park, so we skedaddled.

Just now before coming into Tallahassee we were at a Walmart in Quincy where Danny found us to offer us a spot to camp on his property not far from Havana. I marked the spot on my map and took down his phone number to discuss the option with the kids. I am looking to go camping for a couple nights. Have a spot where we can sit and wake up in the same location. It gets to be very disorienting hopping around a lot. Camping is just the right reprieve for the mind.

What else should I write about? I almost feel spent on the reporting front. I’m going to have to take a quick break and set a timer to have to come back to this or it’ll sit in my drafts for a bit, but the main part is done, I would say and that’s quite the achievement for a forced thing.

I managed to find good reason to procrastinate my timer ringing me to work. a) I spoke to my dad, b) the kids were done playing at the playground c) we headed to the laundromat so the conclusion is me still getting things done and that makes it ok, right?

So here I am to remind you to get a better grip on how we got here than I probably have by checking out my previous writings here:
