Hello beautiful people, especially the 57 wordpress followers, the 7 email subscribers, and the 606 social media subs. I SO appreciate you! If you’re new here, welcome to a blurb of our exploration journey!
We are on day 4 of overcast gray days (I think. It’s been rainy but warm. My solar is flailing in this time is the irritant of this time since the rain isn’t strong enough to get in my leaky areas. We’re in Port Arthur like SO close to the border of texas/Louisiana. I’m drinking coffee while the kids are watching a morning movie, not my favorite for their start of the day, but it gives me some time to get on my to do list. Have you noticed, I haven’t produced any youtube videos lately? I thought not. I do have like 2-3 videos “in the making” but something is keeping me from doing it. Maybe I need a break after all the projects I just did, or I need to remotivate myself. Maybe both, but I’m working on it.
So, how did we get from Brenham over to Port Arthur? Right before we left Brenham a guy in a red truck pulled up, said his wife follows us, and handed us a $20! That made me feel like somewhat a celebrity, a pauper celebrity, but who cares. As long as we’re continuously sharing our out of the box perspective and smiles with creatures large and small…. We’re doing it. Surviving at the the least, enjoying life at the most.
So from Brenham we went to Cypress. Thats where I looked into Houston again, and started getting anxiety about the big city. All the traffic and multiple lanes and so many people. Sitting in a parking lot on that level is the safest, though crazies reside openly in cities (I do love you crazy people) but we’re also likely to get shooed out of parking lots mercilessly. We stopped at the memorial park to let the kids play and then stayed at a walmart on the outskirtss between Houston and Galveston.
Gizmo decided that they left most of his hindquarters and his missing cajones do not affect his ability to walk. He seems pretty healed since I treated his wound with essential oils, colloidal silver, and Healy frequencies. It’s looking pretty healed for being a week old wound, though I’m not willing to risk taking off the cone to test it out. He may be annoying with it on, but at least he’s infection free!
So. I’m part of some nomadic and skoolie groups on facebook and a guy messaged me to meet up since he was in the same area. I mentioned the free ferry ride from Galveston to the Bolivar port (?) and he said he’d like to come along with us on that. So we waited at the Galveston Target where we met some other very cool people, one of whom keeps sugar gliders as pets. I asked her how to get one and she said she would sell one of hers, but after a bit of consideration she noted that they need a lot of attention and my kiddos do as well, so I didn’t get one. I did get an extra propane tank kicked down (filled up) for which I have no room so it’s standing in the middle of the bus right now. I tried to pawn it off on the TJ guy we met up with, but he also didn’t have any room. We met up at the Parque right next to Pleasure Peer.
Before I talk about TJ, I really want to remark on the beauty of Galveston. It’s like early 1900 tropical paradise. Villas lining the streets with victorian charm, palm trees, beach, smiling people. The Parque had like 2 playsets, a skatepark, and 2 splashpads. The gray day can’t dim the shine of Galveston. TJ remarked that all his texas friends said Galveston was crap, and I countered that I had a Texan recommend Galveston. I feel like I’d like to go back eventually.
TJ is a vanlifer with a solid white Nissan. His build is super simple: insulated floor, a bed, kitchen, raw ceiling. He’s had it for 2 years but has been traveling for 4. TJ works out often. He’s ripped, tall, and handsome, originally from the Philippines. He makes his way around by being an exotic dancer. He says most nomads in our age range make their way with their bodies. Definitely no shame in that game. Makes me wish I wouldn’t have a mental block about it. People be getting rich off their gorgeous bods.
The Ferry ride was really cool! As mentioned before, free ride. Apparently they even ship big rigs so I knew my bus would fit on the boat. The worker guy with a big red beard went around and chatted with all the people he supposed lived a nomadic lifestyle. He asked us a few questions and then pointed out the few other vehicles around. He asked if TJ and I were together, I honestly told him that we only met today and finding a caravan is a finnicky subject because no matter how cool people are, the pace of travel needs to match. TJ has more movement freedom so I suspected he moves more rapidly. If he wanted to hang out with me more he’d have to slow down his pace. His end goal is through Nola to the Keys, which is like my thoughts, but I bet he’ll be there like a month before me. I don’t want to call it destination addiction by any means… I just need to take smaller steps than that.
ANYWAY. the ferry ride was shorter than I liked. I would’ve been willing to chill for an hour on the boat easy, At least Crystal Beach was only 11 miles from the port. It gave TJ and I a bit more time to chat (I always come up with questions to ask after hanging out. I feel like I come across as somewhat conceited offering up my stories and not asking people theirs, though I also feel like I don’t want to pry and hope people tell me their stories willingly) The kids ran around on the beach for a bit, but quickly decided against being there too long, Atreyu said “Let’s leave before we bring all of the sand onto the bus.” Gizzi knocked the dog food all over the floor and I felt pretty done with the day altogether. TJ said he was ready to get out of here and seemed suprised to hear me say I’d probably drive the same distance he would today. 51 miles is quite the stint, but if there’s nothing much between the point we’re at and the next spot, 51 miles isn’t that big a stretch.

Here we are in Port Arthur. I was convinced we’d get kicked out of this Walmart parking lot too, but it didn’t happen… yet. There’s also a hobby lobby right next to us. I’m tempted to go buy some 18-20gauge wrapping wire. I got a 28g wire from Molly which is great for weaving, but I need framing wire. I have a lot of raw material, but having integral parts…. hmpf. I did clean and arrange some spots for some Organite jewelry to be displayed and the cool hungarian leather knots have a prominent spot, too. Maybe I’ll get to selling some art things.
I feel like we’ve been in Texas forever, I guess it’s only fitting to get out of this state eventually, though I’ve really enjoyed our time here and all the people we’ve met. 3 days until my mom gets older, though please don’t ask how old cause I have NO capability of storing that info in my head. I’m really bad about dates, she’s lucky I remember the date XD I generally remember peoples birthday month and zodiac, but their actual day of birth and stuff is as hard for me to keep track of as the daily date, so I hope my self awareness gives some leeway to my short coming. I’ve now been working on this for 2 hours, so I hope it doesn’t take y’all that long to read this nonsense. I do hope to find a bit of sunshine today and maybe some quiet in my mind would be nice, too. I downloaded a mindfulness app and doing frequencies, really trying to get tobacco out of my system and brain
Again. Thanks for being here. I hope you’re grateful today. May you share some smiles.
