Brenham TX

I’ve been thinking about writing all day and managed to push it out easily. It’s cold and snowing and it demotivates me. I mean, my head gets busy with other things like worrying if the kids are warm enough. Earlier I planned to head a bit west as to drive through to the other side of the storm, but alas my windshield wouldn’t properly unfog and as I entered the interstate it started snowing and I thought of Texans general capability of driving in snow, and my powersteering pump not working properly (clogged pressure hose) so I got off the interstate and went back to Walmart.

I feel like I’ve been taking more time to work but have gotten lax on the writing part…. So where did we leave off? Columbus, the beautiful people’s amazing property?

We spent a beautiful 2 nights there, weathered an intense thunderstorm that made puddles all over. I left bare foot prints in the mud. On thursday morning I made a fire by the hot tub and stoked it until it was warm enough to throw the kiddos in. They really enjoyed it a lot with their bathtoys and it’s such a nice size tub that both could practice their face close to under water. After the kids were done, I made sure the water was getting hotter and I got some time in too! The kids tried helping by stoking the fire and managed to smother it instead. I jumped out and saved it.

I would’ve liked to stay longer but something was pulling me on.

We stayed a night in Sealy and ended up going to the Newmann’s castle in Bellville. Obviously I made videos that are youtube editing pending. We got there late, but it was a beautiful time and the kids had fun.

From there we went to Hempstead and did laundry before finding a Walmart to park at. Freecampsites.net is really sparce in the area, so if you’re local and know some good free camping spots, please DO impart that knowledge upon me. I much prefer camping to Walmart tour, but I’d rather park for free over night than pay an RV spot….

Anyway. In the morning I surfed the events tab on facebook and found some really cool things I want to take the kids to, but the most intruiging was a Circus show that wasn’t going to happen for another 20 days. As I am me, I looked up the circus and their upcoming events. Back by Austin, Round Rock to be exact, they would be in the next 5 days. I got a bit torn…. Do I want to head back the way we came? I posted on facebook about my situation and then contacted Molly, who doesn’t live too far from there either. Her response and the facebook commenters really helped me sort my head a bit. If there’s too many questions and options in those questions I get more confused about what I want. I have a lot of projects I could probably get after if we go back to Molly’s for a bit, like an oil change and unclogging the pressure hose and a radiator flush… and building up the kids seats and sealing the door better… and getting Gizmo neutered. Maybe I can order myself a something if I can remember and have it sent to Molly’s….

So, I did a little happy dance in the parking lot and took the kids to the playground. I feel I should’ve driven farther yesterday and maybe have gotten us halfway through this storm, but then it would’ve probably been snowing all day instead of just most of it. It is supposed to snow until midnight. I was thinking about a hotel room, but we have blankets and a heater, home-made pizza plans and I got us a red box movie. I’ve been wanting to watch Mulan for quite some time and “Little Women” too! Galixy immediately voted for Little Women but I figure we can do that after Mulan. I’m excited to be warm again. Tomorrow should be sunny but cold still. The snow will melt by midday and my windshield shall be dry

AAaaat aaaany rate… I’m excited to take the kids to a circus. I’m really happy to go see my friends again and maybe make a good loop. I feel like maybe we missed something or someone besides the circus, some life we’re still sposed to touch or have them find us. Some perspective we haven’t seen….

I’m cold and ready to add a couple pix and make a pizza. It’s almost 6 PM afterall so it’s a good time for dinner. Beds are graciously warm and comfortingly built for the kids…. Little cocoons. Thank you Crikett on that one. Thank you, Crikett on many counts! Eternally grateful!
