I have n alarm set that reminded me to blog this morning; I’ve thought about it since the afternoon of my last blog. My Ipod is playing Vivaldi for the morning. Galixy is up and calling herself a “sweetie.” One cup of coffee down and more being made. Galixy peed the bed so there will be a stop to the laundromat in our day.
So! We were in Eastland at the Walmart, I’d published my blog which connects and shares straight to my facebook page. Well, soon after sharing, I received a comment “you’re really in eastland? Will you be there long? I want to come meet you.” Or something close to that. I don’t always wait for people off the internet, but something was telling me that I should wait. My brain does the courtesy of running through all the possible characters this person might embody, but it didn’t anticipate this beautiful Momma and her 7 children popping out of a big blue Ford van. Nichola is friendly, kind, and aware and her children reflect their exterior beauty in their hearts. The kids range from ages 3-19 and each is attentive and sweet. My kids were taken and absolutely pleased to have some playmates that were responsibly playing on the sidewalk where we’d parked at. Nichola and her kids are converting a skoolie since the dad is away for three months at a time and their house home turned somewhat inhospitable, they figured they might as well go explore. Nichola and I talked for hours and could’ve probably talk for hours more, eventually moving our troups to a playground for more leeway for the kids. It was a beautiful day to be spent with lovely people. After our goodbyes I almost felt like coming out of meditation. I think she has more faith than I. Hers is firmly placed in Jesus. Mine is losely evolved to goodness and love. She’d see it as the same thing, I bet, because she’s the true believer and not just a religious follower. I really appreciate these beautiful humans.

From the city park, Matilda headed south. It was late afternoon and I piloted toward a truck stop somewhere. In that journey, my phone lost connection. I first noticed that my music stopped playing, which was odd since my youtube playlist is “downloaded” which they say to connect to the internet every 30 days to keep it up to date and we’d been connected to the walmart internet just this morning, so how did it disconnect this? Well, looking at the youtube it disconnected the maps and we barely found our way south to a gas station. I’m not sure if it was the one we tried to navigate to, there was absolutely no connection in that area. Usually that’s not a big deal or even a bad thing, unless I’m completely unprepared for it mentally. I asked the people in the gas station where I was and the nearest Walmart, after all we could’ve been only a mile away from the department store supplying free internet, but we’d made it to Comanche and the next walmarts was in Brownwood. We stayed the night right at that gas station.
In the morning, I located my displaced Ipod for music and it’s been connected to the speaker ever since. I really value free music and this is worry-free conglomeration of a multitude of genres, from dancey psytrance to singing along folk music and chilling classical. Hitting shuffle on that Ipod means a lot of variety to assault your senses. Also, my phone started roaming which scares me because it may mean extra charges where I have no business charging extra, so I quickly looked up our destination and route and screenshot all I needed, adding marks in pic editors just in case of hitting more dead spots. This situation made me yearn for a paper map. I had one that got transferred from my subaru to this bus, but I vaguely remember giving it away.
Yesterday I tried to cover quite the distance to try and make it to our friends’. We took a playground break and then headed on a bit more. We’re about an hours drive distance from our goal. I took the time to make the youtube video about the River Bend Nature Center we visited in Wichita Falls and now I’ll get to collect new footage for our adventures! YAY, caught up! Also, my friends agreed to let us receive a package from Crikett to their address and I’m way too excited to receive, not only the internet she’s supplying but the tradition homemade christmas candy! I love candy, but I love Crikett and her skills more! I’d love Crikett without her baking skills too, but I do appreciate all the love she gives our family. Do I brag about my awesome friend enough?
So, I’ve got to make some pancakes for the kids now that everyone’s awake. Then I’ll be heading to a grocery store to utilize the refilled foodstamps and not show up empty bussed at our friends. Apparently we must make a laundromat stop for Galixy’s bed stuffs and then we’ll be heading South.
Oh, yesterday while brushing Galixy’s hair, Atreyu insisted to have a hair cut and chose a mullet of all things. He’s beyond stoked, and I think he looks rather dashing.
