Good morning! to me… Good day/morning/afternoon/evening/night to you! Wherever you’re at I hope it’s good! It’s a cold morning here in Eastland, TX.

I wanna start right where I left off, the gray, sad post I made really was a release. Sometimes all that needs to happen is a vent. Literally, I sat stewing for just another moment and this lovely lady pulled up and asked if we could make it to the pump for her to give us fuel. She said she was blessed everyday by God, and even though her husband died just this March, she knows that when things seem to be going bad, God is up to something good. A pastor just a pump over sent a picture to his wife and gave us a handful of dollars. His wife contacted us almost immediately and invited us to have lunch at a local joint, Burgers and Billiards. The people there were absolutely lovely. I ordered water and the waitress was like “really? Someone else is paying and you’re getting the free thing?” Besides liking water, I don’t need to be taking advantage of the kindness. It’s already splurging when I’m not asking the kids to share. The kids ran around the billiards tables and looked at the video games while I ate a chicken Bacon Ranch wrap. Atreyu had Chicken strips and Galixy opted for the Grilled Cheese. They barely nibbled their food before running around some more which means I had decent quiet time and this place was set up for kids to be happy and free. The people just smiled at them and a lovely waitress even gave them a complimentary racing game each! While I was watching the kids, Crikett messaged me to check on my mental state having just read my frustration-spew. She was also on the path of cheering me up. She had had a discussion with her husband and somehow convinced him that they should add an internet device to their phone plan for us! By “convinced” I don’t mean that it might’ve been terribly hard because Sam is a very kind man who’d oblige his wife with most things as long as it’s logical. I do wonder if he sees her support as a little overreaching (she’s a hero and always there. A pillar of love. She was mad at me in my dream last night and it cut deep though even in the dream I felt it was understandable or deserved.) I’m by all means beyond grateful in so many aspects for Crikett and her family, especially that she has love like that
After our fortunate lunch, we went to the laundromat in town to do a load. It would not let up on the rain and the report said it would continue far into the night. The kids didn’t want to sit at this Walmart any longer. Cold and wet is most easily combatted by movement, in my experience, and though we weren’t going to get ourselves out of this particular front, Atreyu insisted we should go south ASAP (his words!) and it turned out he was right.
We drove into Breckenridge and parked (at the walmart. I usually try to avoid walmart tour, but free parking and a higher chance to get donations is pretty enticing when you;re broke) Soon after we ate some Pasta noodles, we had a knock on the door and a lady said, “We want to take you in to Walmart and buy you anything you and the kids need!” I was like “right now? are you sure?” Yes, they were sure. They loaded us up with so many fruits and juices. Atreyu got a bakugan game and pokemon cards. Galixy picked a Crayola coloring box, Minnie Mouse PJ’s, and a Frozen Microphone. Momma (me!) got so much joy watching these three angels interact with my minions, a fluffy bathrobe, and an auxiliary chord. I really hope these angels have some earthly profile to make contact. I should’ve given them wire wrapped jewels, or gems, or a Laney-luck-bug, but all I gave them was stickers. I was too flustered by their awesomeness. Blown away by their presence.
It’s hard for me to transition from this to just normal day to day, so let me just point out the difficulty as the transition. The morning in Breckenridge was cold and uneventful. We did go to the park to let the dogs exercise. Then we decided to head on. When I say “we decided” it literally means that my decision making skills aren’t always the best and I discuss this with the kids. Maybe it gives them better decision making skills than I have, some assuredness. Not that I always listen to what they input but it’s taken into consideration.
Atreyu learned the game basics for both of his new games thanks to youtube tutorials. I sat down thinking the Pokemon rules would just return to me, alas, I watched the tutorial along side the kids. The thing I helped with was making his cards into somewhat fairly playable decks. They are motivating Atreyu to practice reading which is SO amazing. I got the tablet hoping it would entice some reading, but in fact some pokemon cards have proved more effective. He will be getting more cards for christmas to elaborate the game. Got a beautiful little Nerd on my hands.
So, what’s im our near future? Where are we heading? The winter goal is to get to Florida and bask in the winter tropic sun, but that’s a meandering slow poke goal. Right this moment we’re heading South, pretty much straight south. Friends outside of Austin are excited for a visit, maybe even as excited as I am! from there down to Corpus Christi possibly and then along the coast? I can’t say that that’s real for sure, but having tentative plans is nice.
I produced a youtube video you can find here: https://youtu.be/VU2gv_bgX18
