Hulloo, amazing humans on this earth’s face. It’s evening. A cool summer evening. My favorite. I’m happy.
The kids are zoning out, almost ready for bed. Every time I think if them slightly removed from self, I think about them needing to get new workbooks.
I guess that’s on the list when we go to Charleston by the 26th!
That’s like some big news! Caleb bought us a fridge! As an early birthday present for me; it’s not until November, so I’m kinda rolling my eyes about multiple aspects of this gift. It’s so sweet he definitely believes that a fridge will upgrade our experience, which I’m not discounting at all, but it’s been over 7 years since I’ve consistently had a fridge….. We did our research and found the most suitable, low energy, and low space consuming option available. Regardless, it means I need a rebuild!
A rebuild? a fluffing rebuild! I gotta take out the panels and redo the insulation because….
because I’m staying east. I’ll be figuring out things for homeschool remotely. The lovely lady did say I could just send in the paperwork from wherever I’m at…
I’ve just got a really good thing going here and I’ve been putting off my simple task of rebuilding the oil cooler so long that it’s just a sign that I don’t actually want to leave.
So after a long conversation preceded by a conversation with my brother yesterday the conclusion was reached that I would be staying.
Which in turn prompted Caleb to want me to get my butt in gear on working on Matilda. So we’re staying in the Walmart parking lot for me to do this big project tomorrow. I just don’t want to ruin a campsite with an accident, or scrounge in the gravel. or lug gallon jugs of water from the bath house for the radiator rinsing…. All in all better to do in a parking lot.
So what have we been up to? Photo dump!
We went swimming in Summerville by Pirate’s Cove. Atreyu jumped off a 6ft cliff after I jumped off the 35ft after a lot of coaxing from Caleb. I put a bunch of flowers in my hair on the hike down to the water.
It was Caleb’s birthday a few days ago so I baked a donau welle which was the first big baking project I did in Matilda. Up til now it’s been things like cookies or pizza….. But according to him , it’s been the first adult birthday he’s had that was enjoyable. Added by his climbing partner Abby who took us all out for drinks after having him climbing for a few hours while I baked.
I definitely feel like I’m keeping busy while languishing in this new love I’ve found. Just while sitting here, he brought me a flower he found in the parking lot. I saw him sniff it to make sure it was sweet enough to present me with. It’s such a silly example of the care he takes, but it’s also very descriptive. His smile as he walked up holding out the yarrow bloom. Oh, sweet medicine.
The sun has set and the walmart lights are due to turn on at any moment. About time to conclude and put the kids to bed.
I’ve also been talking to Brittany in PA about excursions north, and to Vicky about a little bit further north… But also with Caleb maybe a little further east? Not that there is far east for us to go…. At any rate, the plan of staying isn’t exactly sedentary. Big things are still coming.
