It is 8:19 AM and we’ve been up since the sun, as every day, regardless of health. The boys start squirming, and I can ask them to go back to sleep as much as I want, they get rowdier as time passes. So, if I fight them, I may stay horizontal for an extra half hour.
I’ve never been a morning person, choosing to sleep into the warmth of the day if I could. However, their comotion forces me out of my cozy blankets and down. I’m still not a morning person, so their early requests are met with lots of grumbles. They usually get a cup of water, if it’s cold out, i put some warm water out of my fired tea kettle. My french press makes “8cups” of coffee, so I usually have some left I can just heat in my camping cup and satisfy my inner coffee demon. I like my coffee with cream and hot cocoa mix. so a little sweet, but still some bitter. Which is a far cry from my fancy days. Don’t get me wrong, my milk frother, sitting at my mom’s, makes me beyond happy to use. Fancy fluff without much price tag.
I’m a fancyful girl who lives barebones…. Because I CAN.
After the boys have been let out of their bunks they get juice (it’s a fiber full juice out of the produce section, Green Machine or Carrot, that I mix half with water for hydration.) And tthen they start asking for food. I give them something to snack on, or on lazy days just some Peanut Butter Jelly breads (or tortilla), but most days I make pancakes.
These pancakes are not just your average balls of dough. I start with a banana, today we added raspberries. mush mush mush. Then I add Chia and Flax seeds. mix mix. pancake mix. Cashew or Macademia nut milk. AND some Maple Syrup. I don’t use measuring cups, so we just look at the consistency before frying it in either Coconut oil OR butter.
The boys are usually eating off the plate as I’m flipping them off the stove.

Once I’m done cooking, I use the still hot water out of the kettle to clean the batter and pan. If I wait, it turns into a crusty mess that takes way more effort to clean. My “running water” is a 7 gallon jug sitting right above the tiniest sink I could find. It has plumbing out on backwards (by me) into a a five gallon bucket from home depot. I don’t generally use the drain on the sink. I keep a large metal mixing bowl in it to collect dirty dishes and grray water I can dump from the bowl directly into the bucket.
Since my sink is small and mostly used by the large mixing bowl, I use a 14fl oz reused coconut oil glass to fill my tea kettle, or the animal dish. I also use that as my drinking cup. I keep two mugs for coffee. Because I’m not always good at cleaning my coffee cup right after use. Though, it’s come in handy during my sickness. A mug to put coffee in, which would get neglected over the mug with medicinal Tea, and then the camping cup would have soup cubes disolved in it. All day rotation.
My herbal tea: One teabag roasted dandelion root One teabag Peppermint and into the lose tea-ball Osha root, Echinacea, and Ooosnea. Add a teaspoon of our Garlic Honey. which is locally bought honey with as mny garlic cloves finely chopped soaked and marinated into this honey. Once it’s been sitting for a good while, the garlic gets this sweet but still kinda spicy quality that’s absolutely delicious. If you don’t have any homemade Garlic Honey, I so recommend getting some made. I want to stress to go to your local beekeepers direct. Don’t trust corporates and give your money strraight to your bee keeper, especially because it’s the pollen of YOUR area pollen which has it’s own health benefits.
By now, it’s 9:08. The kids are beyond rowdy. They need some exercise. I will be bundeling them into some sweaters and shoes and opening that bus door.
There is still a smalll pile of pancakes, they’ll be eating those as snacks throughout the day.
My head is still a little weak but the mucus is slowly on the down fall.
May your day be filled with love and happiness.
