Oh what a beautiful week we’ve had! We really made a bit of headway and had a great tourism experience, lots of work got done, and we did a fair amount of relaxing camping too! Summer vibes are real. Or imagined, but I feel them 🙂
The kids did have a lovely time playing in the lake a bit before we left that campsite. We headed towards the outskirts of Munising where we hung out at the truck stop a bit to get some fuel. In the evening we scoped out Munising whilst enjoying dinner at Eh! Burger. I thought maybe we’d find an on the street over night parking spot, but Munising city policy says they’re very strict about it, so we drove back out to the national forest behind the truck stop where we were at and parked near a radio tower.
It was a quiet night to precede an exciting morning where we took a Shipwreck cruise that included some picture rocks and sandstone caves. The kids really enjoyed it. I liked it so much it felt natural to make the youtube video about it soon after: https://youtu.be/_9E9ExMcOrI

I also did a tiktok and marked things on my maps. Michigan is so beautiful! I felt torn about going out of it. There’s so much more to see for us and the people are so nice!
We passed over the MI/WI border after Ironwood. I almost wish we would’ve stayed in Ironwood a little longer just to meet some more of their awesome people. But I must’ve followed the flow or call because the campsite we went to was magical!
Besides being free and with wood at each campsite, riddled with cool trails that lead to waterfalls, people in general were friendly, but especially Sully!
The plan was to just stay one night, use the morning to explore the trails a little and then head down the road. Well, at the spot at the lower waterfalls where the kids were swimming is where they found us. Sully, the fullygrown doggo Sparrow, and the two month old puppy Ursa. We started chatting and didn’t stop for few days.
Sully and Sparrow have been traveling for quite some time, especially considering how young Sully is. We’d actually met before at a rainbow gathering about five years ago. Sully remembers my bus pre- Bugus being set across the way from the tree they were inhabiting. At that time they went by Tiny, but already seemed beyond their youth. A very remarkable human!
I could probably go on and on but galixy is singing silly songs right next to me and it’s making it hard for me to concentrate. The fact that this human has been out traveling since before I met them five years ago when they were only 16 means their perspective is rare especially with so much joie de vivre, love, generosity, awareness! I’m in such awe! I really hope to cross paths again. As we both spend winter in the south, it seems likely! The kids certainly didn’t want to leave! When I said Sully was also not staying at that campsite, it was easier for them to leave. Both the kids got special gifts from Sully. Atreyu received a rabbit hide tanned by them and when they tried to give Galixy a part of their horse hide, Galixy said she’d prefer the racoon tail she’d seen earlier, so that’s what she got! After that choice was made, Sully and I sat together to transform the coon tails into accessories to hook onto clothes.

I feel super special to be meeting the coolest and most amazing humans.
So now we’re in Superior, Wisconsin. It’s really along the border to Minnesota. It is Sunday and we could surely use fuel to stay on the road. Yesterday I passed by the beach I had marked for swimming, but it wasn’t the weather or time to go, so I’ll be looking for other entertainment for today.
The kids are now up and I better photodump so we can get going.

I’ve had some cute short story ideas lately too so I’ve been trying to find time to make those happen too.
Last note: This morning I was woken by a lovely lady circling Bugus, loudly exclaiming how much she appreciates it and asking repeatedly loudly “whose bus this was.” I love the love, but it was before 7 am so I felt it was a bit rude to be yelling. Especially when the answer, or the spot to find the answer, is written all over the outside. At least, the kids slept through it. I guess I needed to get up anyway. When the kids’ had used the mornings to wish Sully good morning, their thought and hope was for momma to get some extra rest, which is so kind and sweet!
Ok, ok, I’m done swooning publicly.
I hope you’re grateful for something
