#92221 Duchesne Utah

Don’t ask me to pronounce this name. We’re sitting at the playground by the fairgrounds. Finally left Heber Valley first thing this morning.

So Monday night a week ago we took that awesome train ride. I’d spoken to the lovely Chantelle and she had given me hope that someone would come look at Bugus valve cover gasket in the morning. Which ended up falling through… But we rode that train. We got there early and took the chance to look around the old depot and take a bunch of pix and the little gunshow before hand was cute.

So the train went pretty slow but the kids running the “show” were pretty funny and knew their scripts. The fiddlers were amazing. Atreyu didn’t want to join in the upityness of it all from the start but loved looking out the window and waving at everything. Galixy on the other hand really enjoyed the everything but got upset about the seating arrangement after the locomotive did the old run around. Definitely felt like the ride back was a little faster but I really enjoyed the view of all the streams, Mountains, and the lakes.

So that night it was dark when we pulled into Walmart. The kids went to bed pretty easily. I just slid into bed when a yellow truck pulled up and a guy quietly asked if we’re still up in there and then scribbled a note and left it on the bus windshield where I found it in the morning.

His name is Josiah and he has two kids aged 8 and 5 and he lives in his school bus parked on some friends property. So that’s where we’ve been for the last week busting out project after project on the bus.

We did fly netting on the window on the trailer and made flynet frames for the bus windows which worked out really perfect with the amount we had and the wood he cut for the frames. A new wire shelf moved in as a pantry for the bus and in the end a shelf in the  back was also screwed in.

The trailer got kind of a new set up. As I wanted to do the bunkbeds and pull out the water tank, that happened. The dinette was scrapped except the hardware for the table and the cushions for the seats. I have a quasi L shaped couch now and and a cute table and lost a ton of surplus wood weight. There’s little shelves set up in the corners. It turned out really cute and deserves a good cleaning so that I can eventually do a tour.

Maybe that’s the motivation I need to get my bed actually set up. Cause yes, it’s my bedroom, but currently the bed is in shambles and I feel shame about the fact that I haven’t been able to actually set it up in there and with the whole trailer in walmart I definitely prefer sleeping with them there. Though when sleeping on someones property or in the woods I could certainly sleep in my own bed… and it’ll be way easier to hang out up there if it’s actually set up comfortably.

The people who keep the property we were on are two amazing adults with their own two kiddos. The older one was consistently over to see if the kids were down to play, which they were. Besides making a mess out of the trailer, there was also a big trampoline for them to bounce around on. They have a big garden and we were fortunate enough to help harvest some of their corn and enjoy some cooked. The kids are all about helping with farm work.

OH! They also have alpacas! They just got two females with one pregnant and Josiah told me that she’s due any day now. With my luck, the birth happened the very next day! To a little appaloosa boy. Actually, there was a twin, but it didn’t make it. I don’t know a lot about alpacas but I have been exposed to them a lot, so I feel like I helped out.

I was kind of hoping to be able to change my route a little and head south sooner but Atreyu still insists on going and seeing Dinosaur. So that’s where we’re going. I do hope to make it to Vernal today and then on to Dinosaur. So over that way and hopefully to south from there. Always fun trying to navigate roughly and hitting too many points of interest on the way. You end up moving suuuuper slow.

Alas, I have more to say, but I really want to get on to things of the filling my belly persuasion and I know I have about a million pix to add to this post and then Vernal is a whole nother hour drive which is more like hour and 45 in Bugus and it’s not my fave driving with those gaskets out, but I also feel like I can’t stay in places forever. I should really call a shop and just have them put those in with how far back those plates go. But on all other levels…..
