We’ve had sucha lovely time in Albuquerque. Paulina and Noa are two sweet persons and also took us back up to Pecos to meet some very lovely people, Robin and Dean who’ve been living on a homestead for quite some time. Robin says she can’t keep up with the repairs and the National Forrest wants her property so she’ll be moving just a bit down the road. Both are very fond of the little humans and supply much love, food, and ears to their wants and needs. There’s always seeming to be water boiling for tea. Robin prattles along as she sews or takees care of her home. Dean, Robin’s father is a mild tempered man with a presence; the only time there is no chatter is when he speaks. He helps out in the neighborhood and, just like his daughter, aims to comfort the visitors. All in all it’s a lush green welcoming energy. We would’ve stayed longer, but Paulina had an exam. At the least, I have a phone number.
The night we left abq we pulled into a grocery store lot trying to get a hold of our friends in the mountains to make sure our delay didn’t mean we weren’t welcome any longer. A lady walked up and complemented bugus but remarked that working lights would be amazing. I told her that it was beyond my capability but I have the hook ups. She gave me her phone number and address up in Cedar Crest, which was right around the corner of my friends, but far estimation. We parked there over night, right in front of a horse pasture. In the morning the kids watched a guy do horsey chores and implored him to let them help. He was almost done with his chores, but brought out some carrots to feed Honey, the horse. Haley got back to me, so we headed over to them before their kids got picked up by their grandparents. I wish I had had another chance to speak to Samantha. She was very open and inviting. I really appreciate it.
We had a beautiful day up on the hill with Haley, Javan and the kids. Javan has been working hard on his cabin. Last time we were there almost two years ago, there was barely a foundation and now there’s siding going up and debates on shingles vs. metal roofing. It’s looking great. The kids rode bikes down the road and climbed in trees. We left before the weather got bad heading towards Santa Rosa.

Before I go there, a side story of stormie, our Texas rescue. This little Chihuahua I toted for 8 months, what a heart. I’ve been trying to find him a home and have come across more “no’s” This week, we had an enthusiastic “yes.” A man walking his dog with his daughter admired my little dogs, so obviously I pointed out Stormie saying he was looking for a loving home. The guy was stoked. We hung out a bit and stormie ended up following him and especially his big dog home. About an hour later, there was stormie back in my bus and the guy had chased him back to me, grabbed him and truddled back home. Another hour later and stormie was back again. This time the guy was no where to be found, not down the road where he said he lived or anywhere. I waited a bit, but then it was time to go and I couldn’t just leave the dog to his own devices either. So, when we were with Haley and Javan, I asked if they’d help me find him a home. They did. the same day we left stormie behind, they took him grocery shopping and he wouldn’t stop whining until he jumped into some dudes arms. Haley says it seemed like love at first sight and a good home for doggo, and, so, I broke my heart a little, but hope for the best as our paths part.
So today we hunkered out of the wind in Santa Rosa. While it wasn’t too windy I let the kids play at the park and we had a lovely walk. Once the wind picked up, we first tried parking at McDonalds to use their internet, but it seems it’s been disabled, so we parked in front of the library and I downloaded an amazing soundcloud mix to work into a video! We had an early noodle dinner and then headed down to a campsite just south of Fort Sumner. It was dark when we pulled in so the kids will be stoked about the lake in the morning. In town is the Billie the Kid Museum and I hope it will be open and that the kids will have something to explore. As long as I free up some storage space for some videos in the morning. I had to delete my Facebook, paypal, venmo, and another app to make room for the mix, but it will be SO worth it. So tomorrow I’ll be attempting to edit a video for youtube.

I’m feeling pretty loved and sure of who I am in this first week of my 3rd decade of life. Somehow more complete. I’ve had some interference run on me for a minute, but instead of making me feel bad, somehow it’s shone a light on who I am more clearly. And I’ve got no apologies for standing up for myself. Undoubtedly, as my life has been, this decade will be another ride.
May you have something to feel grateful for. May you feel loved. May you find time to share smiles.
Loving you
