Van Horn- Abilene TX

We didn’t stay longm in Van Horn. I can’t honmestly remmemmber anything exciting that we did there. Mmy m”MM” is sticking again and I’mm rmmmemally mwommmmndering about the integrity of this keyboard.mmmmmmmmmmmm I’m giving up on it right now,m mmmaybe it’mll work itsself out again….. Just wanted to report somme momfmmmmmmmmmmmm

Pecos, TX was a quick stop for the playground and some good donation stop at the Walmart. We sat the Loves truck stop a while, made hardly any money and got kicked out, So we went to the Walmart where the Donations rolled in the next morning, inclusive of a full tank of fuel.

We headed on to Odessa. There was a circus in town but only performing on the weekends. It was starting to get more and more gray. We checked out the Odessa Stonehenge and the near by park. Then stopped at Home Depot and built a new shelf. (Youtube? https://youtu.be/0w6pOeDNMko Please do subscribe!!)

I also purchased a wonderful blender! I feel so high class! I’ve got a vaccum and a blender! Woot! Smoothies for the Sitton’s! Since rain seemed imminent we headed for a rest area so maybe Sonny could sleep under a pavillion. It barely rained that night.

But it gave us a wonderful excuse to head to Big Springs. (This is the video next on my to-do list!) Our first stop was a air/war museum, Hangar 25. Super cool! Then we drove into the State Park and explored some there. Afterwards we went to the Comanche Trail Park, where it started raining. So we headed to the sweet Library!

Really, I like Big Spring. It’s cute and has a wonderful park. We didn’t see too much of the actual town vibe. Mostly the South Western part. Especially since the rain just intensified. It didn’t stop raining all night. Gizmo had ate a cover of a book and the last 30 pages of another, so he was banished to sleep with Sonny.

The poor guys had a terrible night. There wasn’t a dry spot in sight. At about 1AM they abandoned the soaked 3rd attempted place and went into Walmart where they sat in the arcade part trying to keep dry and warm. They were still pretty soaked when they showed up to the bus. Well, Sonny was. Gizmo was dry, kept safe in Sonny’s coat. It was dripping in the bus, too. And no end to the storm until late afternoon. We found an abandoned pharmacy with a gas pump overhand thing and parked under it which made the dripping abate slightly.

It was the most perfect movie day with a stop at the laundromat to let Sonny dry out his soaked things.

We stayed another night in Big Spring so we could check out the big playground at the Comanche trail. We had a few pleasant strolls around and a little picnic.

About mid day we started heading east further. About an hours drive is Sweetwater and not far off the I20 is a wonderful little lake with some free campsites. It was a beautiful night with clear skies and a large area for the kids to play and run. They stayed up late and went to bed easily.

Today we headed towards Abilene after a very mellow morning. I did some cleaning and organizing. The kids played vigorously. The dogs bounded across the rocks. Quite idyllic.

Right now, Matilda is parked in a flying J truck stop, hoping to get her fuel tank topped off. Kids were detained by a movie. Sonny is sitting out trying to make the fuel tank visible. I posted a youtube video. Now I’ve gotten the “m” tab to unstick. It’s beautiful and sunny out. I’m really hoping for a quick trip on this so we can go to a playground here. On another level. I should really get these other videos edited so they’re not stacking up so hard.

I’m really feeling the excitement of Spring. The warmth is creeping and the desert is pretty much behind us! I know we’ll be heading to Fort Worth, because I’m expecting to get mail there (YAY!!) Also that way Sonny will have a short trip up to his mom on his own and I can go a little South again to go really explore! And in 5 days is Atreyu’s birthday! We’ll have to come up with something cool to do! A good cake to eat! A reason to celebrate!

What else has been going on? I worked a little on the translation, but the second time I got to the website to get into the other parts, it already had a english translation option. So I wasted their time. đŸ˜¦ I’m glad they got it done and sorry I felt no motivation to get it done.

Galixy started chewing on her hair, which means it’s finally getting long enough to stay out of her face. Atreyu’s mastering the slingshot and complaining often of having to do school work while Galixy plays along nicely with his letter recognition.

I hope you all are well and loving your life!

Stay grateful! Loving you!
