I’m currently on a computer. I was going to bring in my key board but I forgot it with the kids rushing me. Typical. The DVD player’s charging, the kids are playing video games on the computer and I haven’t been writing and I really need to be. I mean, it’s not like I’m getting much traveling done. But sometimes the inbetweens are important, too.
So we’ve really not made a whole lot of money over this stay here. Walmart produced about $40 or 50. For pretty much a whole day of hanging out. That’s pretty hard. I really don’t have a bus fund and I’m trying my best to get everything handy together for the bus. The list I made feels pretty overwhelming considering it’s hard for me to pay for the materials I need and then find the plug in to use my drill and handsaw when needed. At least I got the caulk and did some sealing. Haven’t had rain to try it out yet, and my bed side is definitely not sealed yet either. It was tricky climbing and balancing on an uneven surface to caulk up side down and semi blind with the wind whipping my hair into my face. I met a couple cool people and a Korean guy did a video tour of my bus and had me say “Hello, my name is Laney,” in Korean. He gave me $10. I splurged and bought the first Harry Potter novel to read with the kids and a splash mat for underneath the leaky toilet (more to that later.)
We camped at Craggy Rock Blm land that night cause it was closer to go up north. That ended up being a mistake cause it was a cold night and I feel blind and unsure parking my bus at night especially to get it even, so I ended up accidentally blocking an area partially. But then the people with the RV after me really blocked off any other access to the Area and then another one blocked off the rest of the road to wherever that road goes. With the cold and the blocking off, we left pretty early to get to the library, upon the kids wishes.
We hadn’t been there very long when my friend from last year, came through the door. The one I had messaged but heard nothing back from. He’s been without his phone for at least the last month and has been working a night shift and staying at his friends house. He read Dinosaur books with Atreyu and joined Galixy and my sideways tea party. When it was time to go, he pulled out his newly renewed library card and checked out the alphabetically ordered all encompassing dinosaur book Atreyu’d been loving and Harry Potter and the cursed child screen play I was trying to read. Then we went to listen to his friend’s to listen to their “garage”band. There were about 4 guys playing and one guy listening and adding rock aire. The lady of the house was making tamales in the kitchen. It was super loud and easier for the kids and I to enjoy from outside, so we explored the backyard. Christina, the lovely lady, brought us Banana Bread and Orange juice. Galixy was still hungry after devouring his big slice. We went out to the bus and Christina joined us for a little while. She’s very sweet and timid. But she admired the bus and lifestyle. I got to fill my water tank and I got a great kickdown of nugs!
That night we went back to the BLM land down south and ate some Nachos. That night and morning definitely felt a little warmer waking up on high ground in sunshine. I headed for the playground because that’s THE spot to clean out my toilet. It really starts to stink quickly. And it leaks from between the holding tank and the cutter offer thing. It’s so gross. I almost prefer when we had the baby potty and pooped in doggy bags and then jugged the pee up. It needs to seal. I CANNOT have this leaky shit in my bus. even when we’re all only peeing in it, it reeks. Enough of my gross toilet! I had this guy watch me out of his car for a little while he smoked a joint, which he ended up handing me the roach of š He was just done dumpster diving. I said that it was such a great thing to do, save useful things from the landfill. We got to talking more and I ended up telling him about some of my projects. He had some floor boards for me š a little missmatched from the other ones, but just enough to fill some floor without cutting a single board. It’s not perfect, or matched up and gap free for that matter, but a couple of rugs and no one will see a huge difference.

George, my friend, came to hang out at the park with us, too. He was the one that encouraged me to write a comprehensive list of the needs of the bus. And by comprehensive I mean something that includes every errant “need”. Like getting the door sealed and air tight seems like a good one, and fixing the interior lock system anyway. starting to come out of the frame. I reinforced the flip table with a longer screw this morning, I still have some silicone and need to caulk the sink. Galixy needs a real pillow and I could use an extra blanket. Little things and big things and some in between.
Last night I spent way too much money on McDonalds for the kids to both have Happy Meals and play in the playplace. We got toys we already had and they had no replacements, so we just gave them back. They did have lots of fun running around and making friends. Back at BLM land, I read them chapters 2,3 &4 of Harry Potter. I also finished the Cursed Child. When the story flows, it’s hard for me to stop reading. Atreyu was the one that encouraged me to keep reading on in “his book.”
This morning was a pancake morning. Now at the library, I’m getting hungry and also kinda anxious. Used up most of this hour writing, so I should save in drafts to add pictures via my cell phone. Get the kids off the computers and reading and puzzling before we head to the bus for food. This clock says it’s 12:30, I thought it’d be 11 only. I’ve already looked for a book for myself, but that’s a difficult one for me. Anyway, I have books I should be reading and finishing off and passing on or back to their proprietors. It’s not bad for me not to have a library book. Just gotta get Atreyu to relinquish his Dinosaur book before we’re able to hit the road again. Which reminds me of the lovely lady that asked me to come to her church next week. She said I might be able to find lots of support for my cause there.
Fingers crossed. We could really use support right now!
So, we stayed at the library for another hour reading books. The emptier my belly got the more anxious and fed up I was, too. Finally I got the kids to come along on a goodwill stop cause i wanted potato soup and they wanted Spinat strudel which requires some sort of baking form. After goodwill, we needed groceries to make this dinner extravaganza happen.
We headed out to camp early so I could cook. That soup is so good and really makes me happy. I’m glad I’ve got a fair sized pot for a good quantity. And it seemed manageable to do two dinner things in this set up. Makes me want to reach for the moon (not stars) with our meals. Maybe eating good regular food will help kick the tobacco. Though I did make quite some dishes that’ll need cleaning in the morning. But I’ll have soup! Yay!

Its 9:40 and I already miss having a good book to page turn…. only 3 days to get addicted to something… psh. I read that book in 36 hours, so just the mere action, repeated… I have other things that need to get done….

Anyway, we’ll see what happens next. Loving you!
