good mid-night- ish! I’m laying in my bed, pulled into BLM land (public land managed by a bureau). The wind is shifting about around the bus. There’s a bit of a chill up here, but it’s so late I wanted to be no where but in bed. The moon is large tonight. It’s got an orange tint to it so it’s not quite as bright as I feel it should be.
I gotta confess I have a topic started in another draft I wanted to elaborate on, but procrastination nation has gotten a hold of me today! I’m half tempted to write this day in reverse, but it would make little sense.
Maybe we could start with my attempt at being a writer for real. I paid for a program that would supposedly make finding writing jobs and clients easy. I disregarded their requirement for a computer assuming that my bluetooth keyboard would suffice. Obviously, my smart phone doesn’t have the computers capabilities and I’m now waiting for my refund. The lady did say I should keep my eyes on them because they are currently developing a mobile app for just the problem I was experiencing. At least I’m not the only one being stubborn in our smart phone capabilities.
We stayed the night at the flying J outside Albuquerque. I made absolutely no fuel happen there, so I decided to drive us a little south, to warmth. But we only made it about 20 miles to Belen where a new Loves was errected over the last year. Not one employee came out to see me or tell me to leave and we sat there for quite some time. Plenty of lovely people came by to donate. One lady on a moped filled my jug. She seemed a little worried first, but my smiles and assurance made her more comfortable with the idea of a single mom and two kids in bugus. My favorite lady spoke mostly Spanish and we communicated for a good ten minutes through my poor spanish, her poor english, and disjointed sign language.
After fueling, I had $50 in my pocket which I split unevenly in favor of our bus fund. We headed to eagle park, where we met up with Daniel, our friend we met at Hot Well Dunes. We spent the afternoon playing and having a little walk. While Galixy napped, Daniel and Atreyu prepared hamburger dinner. I had just gone potty and had grabbed Chikkie and Rhea when I saw two Patrol cars drive up and park directly behind Daniels van. Apparently they had gotten a call about “illegal activity” up from our area. Before I knew it there were 5 troopers. The entire police force came out to check on us. They told Daniel to cook outside of his van and gave Atreyu a stuffed dog he named Ruffy. Other than that, they couldn’t tell us much and left again.

We enjoyed the frybread hamburgers before finding a spot to go park. Galixy had woken up, but Atreyu fell asleep as we drove. It was an exhausting day. Both were ready to be put in the bunk right after parking. Even Daniel was surprised that they were already in bed when I went to hang out with him. We played some music and chatted until late. When I got back to the bus, I noticed Chikkie was acting very strange, curling over himself and sticking his nose into blanket folds. He was playing with a mouse! The poor thing had it’s adrenalin going at high rates. My heart started pounding for it, and the fact I couldn’t just grab it and throw it out. I cheered chikkie on to get the thing, and when he had him in his mouth, I grabbed him by the scruff. I opened the bus door and shook my cat gently until he released the rodent who scurried off quickly. I would’ve been happy to let Chikkie eat him, but I didn’t want him to tear him apart on the bus, and I didn’t want my cat outside after dark.
I’m tired and it’s definitely passed midnight now into the witching hour. I shall weave my spell of gratitude and turn off the lights.
Loving you
