Sunshine, Parks, and some policing

Today was filled with sunshine and goodness. The feeling of the sun on my skin just gives me a ton of energy.

While enjoying the rays on my face, a Walmart employee came up. I was felt kind of like he was about to tell me that I had to leave and couldn’t park my eyesore there, but instead he asked if he could take a picture. Apparently this walmart has a collection of pictures of interesting vehicles and mine joined it’s ranks. tehe

And so we left T or C, to go north towards Albuquerque. Galixy fell asleep, but not soon after Atreyu voiced his need to poop. I pulled off on a ramp and dealt with Atreyu. Right as I was about to buckle Atreyu, he says, “Mom there’s a cop.”

I just retorted with “yeah that’s nice.” half listening, so when there was a knock on my door, at this deserted off ramp, I jumped so hard I gave a shriek. I got out of the bus to talk to him and he informed me that he had had troubles seeing my license plate obscured by the bikes, so he wanted to check if everything was in order. I told him he really gave me a start and I was trying to get my heart out of my throat at this moment. He took my registration and Drivers License not even asking for insurance. He asked if it was just Atreyu, pets, and I. I pointed out sleeping Galixy. As he was walking away I asked if it would be ok for me to turn off the bus to save fuel and he agreed. I took the key out of the ignition. He returned within two minutes. I got all buckled and situated before blazing out of there as cautiously as possible. What a trip.

We made it to Socorro for a picnic lunch at a playground where all the bus inhabitants thoroughly enjoyed the sun and warmth of the day. But for some reason I felt driven to get to Albuquerque today and so we did.

The first park had a baseball game going which the groundskeeper locked up the gate after. I had just enough time to locate a Bike rack on Craigslist before we got kicked out. So we headed there and spent $30. I hope it’ll work out, especially since I will apparently not be attaching my propane tank to the back of the bus. Instead I will have to come up with the means to afford a weird RV tank that I may mount underneath. Others suggested putting it ontop next to the bug, but honestly, watch me carry 20lbs of propane tank over my windshield to wobble it behind the front fender? naw. no way. better on the bottom and feed the hose through the floor. I already have so many holes, what’s one more? if it was in the roof, that one more hole WOULD be significant.

I visited another park and let the kids play while I chatted with my mom. It was getting colder though, so it didn’t last long. Ultimately we’ve retired at the Walmart with a dinner of Dinosaur Pasta. We read a bunch of books before the kids went to bed and I sat down with my phone to…. PURCHASE INSURANCE.

That’s right, yours truly is now road legal, not endangering her comrades with financial ruin. Woot. Smells like a pile of poop to me, but accomplishing adulting does feel pretty gratifying. I can’t lie, the $114 6-month policy really sweetend that deal.

So here I sit, financially a bit lighter. Wondering what I gotta do next. Besides cross that big glob off my to-do list. Research propane tanks some more. Maybe I’ll find a junk yard for a water tank.

Tomorrow will be fantastic too!

Another note on the earlier part of my day. I had two Mama’s message me almost at the same time. Each had a question about my perspective on momming. It felt good to be able to be there for them. It’s my favorite thing in the world. Perspective. I love relating mine. I love relating ones I’ve heard about and ones I only speculate about. I’m sure to let whomever know which I’m speaking of when the subjects arise. If nothing else, I gave each the strength to experiment in their own ways. I’m not a perfect mom and it was one of the topics, but we are all striving to do better every day, every breath… We don’t have anything else. Breaths and the day. And each other.

Be there for you whenever I can.

Loving you ❤ ❤
