Unexpected kindness

Good evening! It’s freezing out. I was going to check the weather but I got sidetracked. I’ve got a hot tea steeping and music on. Kids are in bed after a long day. Fat glob of honey to melt into the tea. I’m standing in the middle of the bus, leaning at the counter. Phone is perched up on the shelf, but that’s quite the distance for checking so it will move sooner or later. Nahko is singing to “Be here now” and here I am. About to dwelve back into the things today brought.

I awoke what felt early, but in truth it was already 7:30. This is a habit I can enjoy. Sleeping until the sun is in the sky. The boys were being good and entertaining themselves in the bunk bed. I got up and started coffee. I checked my phone and there was a message on Instagram from a woman who’s been following my “Spartan lifestyle” and that she quite admires it. I don’t think of myself as all that hardcore. I’m pretty scrappy and I do enjoy my simple little life. lol. Not like it’s all that simple, but I feel close to the outside and connected to my surroundings. I really enjoy being amongst nature and fellow humans. But in non commital ways.

We had a lazy morning hanging out until about noon. By hanging out I mean I cleaned and did a few projects while the boys played.

I counted my money last night and contributed a couple dollars from the boys’ wallets and got them a kid camera. In pink, because Atreyu wished it. So today a majority was spent exploring the new device and taking pictures of EVERYTHING! They filled it up 3 times. I always saved the “best”. I erased a lot of sidewalk, cars, lampposts, and sky. Atreyu likes putting his fingers on the lens, which doesn’t even make sense since it has bulges for handles. We are working on reminding him so I don’t have to erase a bunch of fingers.

We stopped at the thrift store and I found Galixy a new sweater and some more pants (this kid’s growing so fast!), and two throw pillows, one of which has a cat on it that looks very similar to Chikkie. What a great selection with great prices! Just saying CHF thrift for great deals. Go to the second hand store on broadway for boutique deals though. Haven’t been there but their display looks sweet. I want to! but what do I do with fancy clothing? XD I am trying to clean up a bit, but not to the point of skin tight dress and heals.

After that mini venture, we got ourselves to the park. (While erasing I just saw some letters look like “TACO” and now I want one…) Anyway! The boys ran about taking pictures like crazy. Wish I had a computer to upload right now. Awesome things these mini humans.

We strolled over to the dog park to meander by the fountain and came across this lovely lady, Geraldine. She and her husband, Frank, invited us to their home to do laundry and be fed.

They are previous Dead Heads. They spent ten years on the road. (time to sit. better for now) about a year ago they moved from California to T or C because they could afford purchasing the house here. They have a son and a daughter, 31 and 29, and two granddaughters, 9 and 8. Geraldine is very soft and gentle. She cooked food and found entertainment for the kids while I put laundry in. Frank is very loud. He seems friendly and welcoming but I feel like he was sitting on edge a little. Almost like he was trying to protect his home from being intruded on. Maybe he just likes his space. He was completely welcoming in his verbage, it was just a feeling I got.

Their home is very bright with lots of open space. It’s very beautifully decorated with an assortment of hippie/earthy/fairy paraphernelia. There are coushioney spaces to sit in every room. The dining area has plenty of windows and two doors to the spacious back yard, which overlooks a hillside. After we had a shower, me blowing up the kiddie bathtub for the first time in a while, we had a little fire out back. Frank sang some songs accompanied on his guitar that were very hard rock. They sent us on our way with goodie bags and an open invitation to return any time.

I feel I have made a very good new friend in Geraldine. I have her facebook info and will be staying in touch with her. She says I remind her of herself. I’ll be fortunate if I make it to be as gentle as she showed herself to be today.

Atreyu voted parking at Walmart which suited me fine so I could return the redbox movie after we watched it one more time (squeezing the most out of our $2 movie!) Galixy was wiped and almost fell asleep during the movie. I’m happy they drank some Green Machine Juice before going to bed. I only thinned it down minimally because I was going for nutrients over hydration this time. Those cups were emptied quickly and they curled up under piles of blankets.

I went to return the DVD and dropped trash off, before returning here to write. I still have a sip of now cold tea and a box of Sandies Pecan cookies. I’m amost considering a cup of soup. Warm, Salty goodness for my tummy. Then a curl up in bed.

I jumped over my shadow and engaged Saliha, my friend in Germany, in her voice clip sending messages. She may be a handful of hours ahead of me, but we share plenty of daylight to comminucate when it’s good for our momming schedules. Kids are fickle and her daughter is still below a year old. I just absolutely love having the connection to her, and that her emotional waves have at least opened a channel to me.

By now LP is concluding it’s Rock serenade to the lost self over love and melding into the ABC’s. I’m cold. And still kinda lost as to what I’m doing. Albuquerque has amazon drop boxes where I could ship my propane rack to, but by now, who cares about $8 or $20. I just need to get this stuff installed. On that note I’m also unsure if I don’t want to just pay my fee so I wouldn’t have to face Tucson in, say, mid July for court. Set up a payment plan and just get it off my record. I still hope weed gets decriminalized or legalized in the next couple weeks XD pipe dreams.

I’m off to do weather research. Maybe Albuquerque is far enough in elevation to not feel this frigid right now, or I’m going back to las cruces. We will see.

Loving you! good night!
