T or C or bust

We’ve had a full day today and it’s only about 5PM. T or C is truly an interesting town.

Last night after parking at Walmart we met Dean who is an elderly gentleman who is admitedly humerous but generally spends his time alone. I was the first person her spoke to all day. He really admired the Bus and gave me his phone number. Something I’d feel way more inclined to utilize if I had a male with me. Which makes me feel sorry. I’m sure this is a lovely man who would really enjoy some company.

The first thing we did this morning was visit the Geronima Springs Museum. The lady there was very friendly. She let me enter for free recognizing that I would miss most of the exhibit due to kid’s attention span. It was really a beautiful set up. Packe with all sorts of information. A log cabin, an outdoor area, and another building all filled with history of the area.

After about an hour of wandering around which could’ve easily been an entire morning if the kids had permitted, I purchased a Novel of stories of the day. The kids got free coloring books.

We drove the bus to park on the main street right in front of a colorful coffee house. The proprietor turned out to be a man who was in the German Navy and moved State side for deployment and stayed. He opened his Coffee shop last October. He says it’s been slow going but gave me a cup of German brew on the house.

We walked up and down the colorful downtown. Running into a bunch of wonderful people, one of which drives an artmobile himself. He’s been decking it out. I wish I would’ve gotten a picture of it. We were interrupted and it didn’t catch my attention when he drove off.

The sun is out and we enjoyed ourselves at the playground. Atreyu made some friends. Galixy took a nap about halfway through our stay there. It gave me the chance to conversate with two fellows, one giving me a break down of all the free camping spots close by. He stays in New Mexico throughout the year yet rises in elevation as the heat increases. The other, a fellow looking to be about sixty who says he is indeed eighty and that the key to youth is eating only one meal a day and that it must be breakfast and he fully expects to live to 200 years of age. All the wisom to be achieved in those years. He said he used to be very rich, but now lives on his exorbitant pension out of his RV. He donated $50 which I’m beyond grateful for.

Now we’re at Elephant Butte State Park. We paid $8 to stay a night here on the lake.

What a beautiful view to have from your front door. My current spot of writing. The gravel may not make for the softest seat, but the warmth on my back and the music in my ears totally makes up for it. Atreyu is finding sea shells. Galixy is still napping. Rhea is keeping me company and Chikkie is exploring.

There’ll be good food in a little while. Once Galixy wakes up we will be taking a walk to the water. If Atreyu is lucky we will stumble upon some fire wood and fill the fire pit he just discovered for a fire after dark.

I’ve been neglecting his workbooks lately, but we’ve been filling our days with many other fun brain things. I guess the glow plug control days were more brain games for me, but I feel it taught them something, too. They were present for the procedures after all. Today they learned a lot about tools used in bygone days, from washboards to early washing machines to old telephones and record players. Exposure is essential, I think. The more we experience the bigger our brains get. New concepts, new thoughts. And travel furthers it even more so. They have plenty of time to fit into the box of society when they are adults. May we be free as long as we are able.

I’m so grateful for the warmth. I’m grateful for the air being crisp and clear. I’m grateful for this view of water. I’m grateful for deep breaths cracking the bones in my spine. I’m grateful for my smart and beautiful children. I’m grateful for the food in our home and the fact that we have a nifty home on wheels. I’m grateful for this adventure. I’m beyond grateful for this brain that is ever expanding and learning. My singular experience is gracious for the goodness in this day and this world.

Loving you!
